Wednesday handed Mare Safety in Ulste nvik a new fire- and rescue boat to Molde fire- and rescueservices.
Mare Safety stood in competition with several good competitors to build new a new fire- and rescue boat for Molde fire- and rescueservices. July 2013 secured Mare Safety contract and Wednesday this week they could deliver the new boat at the wharf to Quality Hotel Ulsteinvik.
– We had, and still have high expectations for this new fire and rescue boat from Mare Safety. The new boat will provide a much better preparedness on Moldefjorden than what we have today. This new boat, with such skills will create a revolution in terms of safety on the Molde Fjord, says deputy fire chief Trygve Lennavik at Molde fire- and rescue service.
Lennavik says that the area of usage is now extended by allowing them a new and more modern boat, also with higher functionality.
– It was a very thorough weighting between tenderers that signed after this request was posted on Doffin. Functionality and design were significant factors in addition to price, where competition was largely steady. It was Mare Safety who drew the longest straw. Now, even after the construction period we are very happy with choice of constructor, says Lennavik happy.
Requirements specification reflects use areas to the boat. Lennavik emphasizes that one of them is shorter respond time, especially to the island outside Molde, Sekken
– The primary aim of the boat is to have the shortest possible respond time to the island Sekken in case of construction fire. Now we can respond quickly with a minumus crew of four persons. The long response time to the island Sekken has been an error for us. But now this and several other requirements is satisfied. Secondly, the boat perform other types of rescue missions. It can among other things be used for boat hauling, oil spill response actions, dewatering, and transportation of people and equipment. It is also rigged for transporting ATV if this should be necessary. We belive the boat will be used a lot, says Lennavik.
Specifications sets the standard in the construction period, Molde fire- and rescue services had great influence throughout the construction process. It is subsidiary of Mare Safety, Mare Safe Sea that has be equipped boat, where Trygve Gaustad has stood as a project manager. He gets praise from Molde fire- and rescue services.
– We’ve had a lot of good communication with product manager Geir-Ove Molvær in Mare Safety, but most of Trygve Gaustad from Mare Safe Sea. Gaustad has followed us up very well, where we through good dialogues have been shown with input in the construction process. We have become listened to had the chance to come with ideas and input. One of the success factors of this project is clearly Trygve, praised Lennavik.
Molde Fire and Rescue looks optimistically forward to new times of the fjords, where security has been a priority. The boat they had handed over Wednesday’s is a MARE FRDC 12 FF (Fast Rescue Daughter Craft 12 Fire Figther). This boat model is designed to operate under very harsh conditions in the North Sea and will increase Molde fire- and rescue services work. The boat is equipped for fire department’s specifications and has received the same uniform and color as their fire trucks.
